Improving our schools

I have been a school Governor twice and taught medical students at university; I understand education is absolutely critical to improve families opportunities and outcomes.

The Government’s £2.6 billion allocated to schools has shown that schools in Bosworth and Hinckley are set to receive, on average, a £204 per pupil increase next year. This is a huge boost to our schools, across Leicestershire the average increase is 4.58%.

School funding in England is allocated through a new National Funding Formula. This was introduced last year to distribute resources more fairly based on the individual needs of every school in the country.

All schools across Bosworth and Hinckley will see a per pupil increase, some will receive a greater increase than others, but all will see an increase. The local school benefiting the most from this funding settlement is Sketchley Hill Primary School in Burbage, which is set to receive a per pupil increase of over 8 per cent.
