The Government has said it was aware of the impact that Business Rate changes, announced in the Budget, would have on pubs, cafes, restaurants, hotels, etc.
Yet Rachel Reeves pushed forward with the uplift, and the Treasury is now searching for ways to support the hospitality sector from the very tax increases Reeves and her Government imposed.
There is already evidence in the sector that these tax rises will lead to a reduction in opening hours, cuts to staff and, in some cases, closures.
For the past two weeks there has been rumours of changes to her own policy, but despite repeatedly asking, we are none the wiser about when this will be announced or how it will work.
So today I asked, again, about the package of support and whether the Chancellor would come to the House to lay out her solution to her problem.
I was pleased to hear that the intention is to announce how the Government will support the sector in "the next few days."
I, like many people, will be eagerly awaiting the news and will look for opportunities to raise it.
