Bosworth Conservative parliamentary candidate, Dr Luke Evans has welcomed the news that that West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has secured funding through the University of Leicester capital expenditure programme for a new x-ray machine in Hinckley and District hospital, to replace the previous facilities closed on safety grounds. The decision looks set to go ahead after a short process of planning and CCG approval.
Earlier this year the Government announced a £450 million pound investment into the Leicester NHS Trust.
Dr Luke Evans, himself a GP, recently discussed problems over a lack of x-ray facilities with the Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock and updated him on proposals being put forward by the CCG to improve the service for people living in Hinckley.
Commenting Dr Luke Evans said:
“It is fantastic news that the CCG, working with the Trust has found the funds to reinstate the x-ray facilities and not require a loan from the council to do so. The funding boosts given to the University Hospitals of Leicester from this Conservative Government is exactly the reason why the money is there. This is a great result for Hinckley and the area."
