A Leicestershire MP has welcomed the announcement of a brand new state-of-the-art Engineering Centre of Excellence in his constituency.
Dr Luke Evans, the Member of Parliament for Bosworth, has welcomed plans announced by REE Automotive to build their new base for electric vehicle platform engineering design at the MIRA Technology Park, just outside of Hinckley.
Dr Evans commented “I’m delighted that REE Automotive have chosen to come to MIRA, recognising it as a global player in electric vehicle design and engineering.
“The Centre will bring up to 200 highly skilled jobs in research and development, bring over £50 million of investment to the area and build on MIRA’s reputation in the field.
“Companies like REE Automotive operate and invest in a global market and had many locations as possible options for their growth. I was proud to be able to arrange and facilitate meetings with the company and the automotive minister, Nadhim Zahawi, who was able to reassure them that Britain, and Bosworth in particular, is a great place for the development of cutting edge technology.
“Working closely with MIRA and companies like REE Automotive I will continue to be an ambassador for the site and do all that I can to bring other cutting-edge technology companies to Hinckley and Bosworth. It’s a great example of Government and the private sector working hand in hand to boost our local economy.”
