New analysis of the Government’s £2.6 billion allocated to schools has shown that schools in Bosworth and Hinckley are set to receive, on average, a £204 per pupil increase next year.
Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson announced the funding for each state school across England for the upcoming 2020-21 financial year. Together, the 39 schools within the Bosworth and Hinckley constituency will benefit from a combined increase in funding of more than £4.5 million.
School funding in England is allocated through a new National Funding Formula. This was introduced last year to distribute resources more fairly based on the individual needs of every school in the country.
All schools across Bosworth and Hinckley will see a per pupil increase, some will receive a greater increase than others, but all will see an increase. The local school benefiting the most from this funding settlement is Sketchley Hill Primary School in Burbage, which is set to receive a per pupil increase of over 8 per cent.
Commenting on the figures, Dr Luke Evans, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Bosworth and Hinckley, said: “Every child in our local community deserves the best possible start in life, and the Government’s cash boost for our schools will help ensure they get it.
“What does this actually mean in practice? Well every school in the constituency will be seeing a welcome increase in their funding, giving teachers, parents and pupils the certainty to plan, and supercharging standards in our schools.”
The £2.6 billion of school funding is part of a £14 billion settlement over three years and will see Hinckley and Bosworth schools that have historically, long struggled with lower per pupil funding than schools in other parts of Leicestershire, have their funding increased faster than the Leicestershire average.
Dr Luke Evans added: “Schools in Bosworth and Hinckley do a brilliant job and the fact that parents and teachers are seeing this investment in our children’s futures is exactly what local people tell me they want to see made a priority by the Conservative Government.
“I am glad our local schools are at last getting their fair share and this funding boost will make certain that every parent can be sure their children are getting a world class education in the classroom, regardless of their background or where they live.”
