Yesterday, as the Shadow Health Minister responsible for mental health, I responded to the second reading of the Mental Health Bill.
Throughout the sitting we heard stories from MPs across the House about friends, relatives and members of their constituencies who have struggled with their mental health, reminding us that this Bill is at the very heart of every part of our communities.
We discussed prevention, compassionate treatment and why Government must take care to be precise in the powers it instils.
Over the next few weeks I'll be taking part in the Bill Committee, where we will read and scrutinise the draft legislation line by line.
