I am very concerned that potentially around 1 in 4 pensioners on lower incomes, some of the most vulnerable people in our society, are not going to be able to receive Pension Credit or the Winter Fuel Payment in time for Christmas, or even the New Year.
This is support from the Government which they are entitled to, and is crucial for the colder winter months, but which is at risk due to lengthy processing times.
I raised these concerns with the Pensions Minister today, and will continue to follow this up down in Westminster.

Successful claims made before 21st December 2024 will qualify for a backdated Winter Fuel Payment.
