Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, has been appointed as Shadow Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero as part of Conservative Party Leader Kemi Badenoch's reshuffle of the Opposition frontbench team.
The appointment comes as the Conservative Party strengthens its shadow ministerial ranks, giving members greater responsibility as the party prepares for the next General Election.
Dr Luke moves from his previous role as Shadow Minister for Health and Social Care, where he has been part of the Opposition health team, to a department he knows well, having served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Energy Secretary during the energy crisis between 2022 and 2023.
During his time as Shadow Health Minister, Dr Luke scrutinised the Mental Health Bill, secured a U-turn on the decision to charge VAT on cancer drugs for children, raised concerns about tax rises on hospices and care homes, and held the Government to account over its changes to how GPs refer patients to specialists.

While I am sad to leave the Health team, I am excited to return to the energy sector, given the far-reaching impact it has on household bills, business growth, national security and our country's future prosperity.
Having worked in the department during the energy crisis, I understand the importance of ensuring Britain has secure, affordable and reliable energy. I look forward to working with colleagues across the Conservative Party to hold the Government to account and help shape a positive vision for the future.
The reshuffle follows other changes announced by Kemi Badenoch this week, which she said demonstrate both the depth of talent and unity within the Conservative parliamentary party.
