Earlier this week, in my role as Shadow Health Minister, I responded to a Westminster Hall debate on Eating Disorder Awareness.
Many of you will know that this is an issue I saw in my work as a GP before entering Parliament and one which I have been working on as part of my campaign on how to improve a person’s poor relationship with their body image.
The Covid-19 pandemic, and lockdown specifically, contributed to a surge in demand for children and young people’s eating disorder treatment, so I welcomed the opportunity for cross-Party MPs to come together and discuss what more can be done to support people. It was also an opportunity to discuss the expansion of mental health support hubs and community eating disorder teams across the country, and hear from the new Government on their plans.
