Being a Member of Parliament is one of the biggest privileges anyone can be given. Having the residents of Hinckley and Bosworth put their trust in me is an honour, as is working in such an historic place as the Palace of Westminster.
Whilst I have been setting up my offices in Westminster and Bosworth I have been contacted by many of you concerned about the issue of climate change, I suspect that this issue will be increasingly important in the coming Parliament.
Leicestershire MPs Alberto Costa (South Leicestershire) and Dr Luke Evans (Bosworth) met with the Road Minister, Baroness Vere, earlier this week in order to discuss safety concerns raised over the A5.
I am pleased to have signed, with colleagues, a letter to the Chief Executive of British Gas about the importance of retaining a convenient means of payment network for their most vulnerable customers.
Families in Hinckley and Bosworth can look forward to receiving a well-earned pay rise with a new National Living Wage (NLW) of £8.72 per hour from 1 April 2020, its biggest cash increase ever – and a rise from the current value of £8.21
This week I’ve met with other Leicestershire MPs to talk about the important issues facing our county in the coming years and how we can work together to lobby government to deliver the best solutions.
