During the last two and a bit months since I became an MP, I have received a large amount of correspondence from constituents about the need to toughen up on sentencing for offenders enacting cruelty towards animals. I have been around animals for most of my life.
During the last month, I received a number of enquiries from constituents about animal cruelty and animal welfare and how the forthcoming Environment Bill must have provisions to ensure that those who attempt to harm animals are arrested and prosecuted. I concur with many of these sentiments.
Whilst I have been setting up my offices in Westminster and Bosworth I have been contacted by many of you concerned about the issue of climate change, I suspect that this issue will be increasingly important in the coming Parliament.
