Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, has welcomed the announcement of additional Government funding which will see local councils serving Hinckley and Bosworth receiving £3.3 million pounds to protect essential public services.
The funding, which forms part of the fourth tranche of support for local councils, will see Leicestershire County Council receive £3,169,174 and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council an additional £131,161.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic local government in Leicestershire, which includes Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, has received £37 million pounds in Covid-19 Additional Funding.
Dr Luke said: “In these unprecedented times the Government has shown a huge commitment to ensure essential local services such as social care for the elderly and waste collection can continue to be relied upon.
“Since the start of the pandemic the Government has provided £37 million pounds of funding for local government covering our area to keep essential public services going. I'm very proud that this Government continues to deliver for Hinckley and Bosworth and the people that live here.”
Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP said: “Since the start of the pandemic, we have backed local councils with the funding they need to support their communities, protect vital services and recover lost income.
“This extra £1 billion funding will ensure that councils have the resources that they need over the winter and continue to play an essential role on the front line of our response to the virus while protecting the most vulnerable and supporting local businesses.”
