Both whilst campaigning and following my election one of the issues that has been raised repeatedly on the doorstep is the need for X-ray facilities to return to Hinckley and District Hospital.
I wanted to update you to let you know that I have written to both University Hospitals Leicester and the Department of Health and Social Care to ask when the facility will be open and, as yet, I've not had a definitive answer on timings.
It is really positive news that the Minister has confirmed it will go ahead, and that UHL have committed to a brand new X-ray suite in Hinckley. After follow up with the Clinical Commissioning Group they inform me that funding has been made available, the machine has been ordered, with the required building work starting imminently. This is encouraging!
But it's also equally important that local people can have a clear expectation of when they can expect an X-ray suite to reopen.
I will continue to ask this important question in the coming weeks and will update you regularly. We are all keen to see that X-ray facilities are back in Hinckley as soon as possible and I will continue to chase to make sure this happens.
