Before Christmas I sat down with John Glen MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, to discuss the Apprenticeship Levy.
I've heard from businesses in our area, such as Forterra UK, Tesco and Amazon, that red tape surrounding the Levy is proving to be a barrier to teaching local people valuable skills.
I’m pleased to see the Treasury is looking into this and will be following it closely.
I raised the need for removal of these barriers in a question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy last year, which you can watch here: Remove red tape around the Apprenticeship Levy, urges Bosworth MP | Dr Luke Evans MP
